I agree that just sticking people in overcrowded prisons isnt very effective but i think killing people is too much.Why? firstly,just saying that the murderers and rapists should be killed does not make sense to me.As a prison manager was saying,most murderers are people who snapped once in their life and killed someone (usually husband/wife) whereas the "lesser" criminals are often the professionals doing routine htings like theft. second, i think that prisoners should be made to do manual labour.I dont mean communty and service "oh go and paint a wall" i mean proper hard labour builiding roads and other pieces of infastructure. I think that capital punishment is in someways too easy.People experiance a few minutes of pain and then thats it. |
^This too. Why does comitting a crime suddenly take you out of the workforce? Makes no sense, not to mention that there is a huge preponderence of data supporting the "idle hands are the devils playground" theory. I mean, we've all heard about these crazy genius breakout attempts, all these people do is sit and stew about how terrible everything is. Put a shovel in their hands for 8 - 10 hours a day and see how much scheming they get done. Work also gives people a sense of usefulness, and we want the one's that are going to get out to be used to working, not used to sitting around all day.
