It did. The ps version sold around 9.72 million and that figure was updated a very long time ago.

Factoring in the International version, which is released in Japan only, that will be another 0.59 million.

Factoring in the pc version (which is not accounted for and is still on store shelves today), the latest ps figure and the newly released psn download, it would have comparatively gone way over 10 million.

Probably mid 10 millions to might be possibly even 11 million ?

 

9.72m is actually Square's old shipment figure for FFVII.  And it included the International release (Square combines rereleases in their IR reports, unlike most Japanese companies).

Counting the year later PC port and MUCH later PSN rerelease, then yeah FFVII would be past 10m.  But the "original FFVII" still isn't.

I looked up shipments though, and it's now managed 9.8m worldwide as of the end of 2005.  Probably rounded, but it could've gotten a good 600k off the PSone Books releases then.
