I say it sells on par with Halo 3. More sales in the first weeks than Halo 3 because of this bigger install base. But it sells about the same.

Just curious as to why the install base being quadrupled only impacts first-week sales and not overall sales?  That doesn't seem like it makes sense.

Part of the reason Halo sells so well is because it's the game that if you buy it, along with COD games now, that you KNOW you'll always have people to play with online and on your friends list.  I think people underestimate this fatcor in sales.  People who aren't even big shooter fans  buy these games for the social aspect of Live.

I still think the numbers will be huge if the demo beta generates positive buzz.

There is two ways to look at this, you have the 'Those who wanted any Halo game would have already bought the 360 and have Halo 3 right now so they would just upgrade to Reach' then theres the 'The install base is omegaly huge now so Reach will pwn all!' I sit on the former reasoning but I guess in a sense I meant after the first few weeks it will sell at about the same pace. So giving it roughly a 1-3 million advantage over Halo 3. Although to me this is very optimistic. But I really do not care if it sells like ODST or better than 3, just as long as its still fun to play. Who knows, will the install base and all the hype make it a 20 million seller or will it just sell on par with halo 3? I sure don't lol
