The UK house of lords (upper chamber) voted today to allow civil partnerships to be held in churches & religious premises. The law will amend the equality legislation so that more liberal religions can hold the ceremonies if they want to. It will not be compulsory.

I think the measure will go back to parliament for approval but it should go through quite easily.

Another step towards full equality in the UK.
