I don't know, claiming Chrono Cross is worse than E.T is a bit unfair imo 
Of course there will be plot holes, they change time, visit another dimension, meet themselves in the other dimension. Something's bound to happen! I mean, if you all of a sudden run into yourself on the street, you know there's a hole somewhere.
BTW, I love Chrono Cross!
