It should have had Ecco the dolphin on there.
Everyone I know or knew pronounced it echo.

Are you saying that's not right?  What do you think it should be?
IMO "echo" makes sense both as straight reading and as a pun on echolocation, i.e. animal sonar, which dolphins use.

It's wrong to pronounce it like Echo, it's eh-coh, not ee-coh
For anyone that can read Japanese, it's spelled  エコー・ザ・ドルフィン

why didn't you just give the the romanization as well?
e koo za do ru fu i n

Since the Japanese "e" is pronounced "eh" ("i" is "ee"), clearly it's pronounced essentially the same way I pronounce "echo" except with a drawn-out "o" sound.

In fact, you also say it's "eh coh", and yet you somehow think this makes it NOT pronounced the same way as "echo"?  Is this an American vs. Brit thing?

this dictionary lists only one pronunciation -- "ecko", or exactly how I say the word.  You can play it by clicking the little speaker.

Weird, I'm pretty sure I was taught that echo was pronounced eecoh...blame my teachers?
