Could Nintendo survive without Mario?

without a TRUE mascot on whom they'd base their games in different genres, they'd probably just do what sony does and create different IPs for different genres, like GT for racing, LBP for platformers, Killzone for FPSs ...etc

they might not sell as much as if mario had starred in them but what Nintendo makes is usually good product and so it'll sell based on that

of course people would still be begging for mario games (including me) ;)
