See you don't know that. Not turning it on definitely doesn't fix the problem, but it could prevent data corruption caused by the bug.

Think of it as a chain of problems... by turning the PS3 on, you could be allowing the problem to become bigger.

 

Actually, I take my statement back for those people who were lucky enough to hear about this problem before turning on their PS3, because Sony agrees with you... 

I was really talking to the people who have already turned it on and messed around with it before hearing that it was a larger problem...
