only someone with severe emotional problems would believe this to be a long term problem and thus not turn on their system for any amount of time that would hurt sales. I'm rather certain that Sony isn't going to be adversely affected if nobody buys a games today and instead makes their purchases tomorrow after it is fixed.
what do you think is going to happen, people who paid $400-$600 dollar for systems are simply never going to use them again because they are afraid it won't work? yes, never using it is the more sensible course of action, because it is better to have a machine you never play than a machine you are afraid won't work if you try.
this is a short-term problem. what kind of sales effect are you suggesting may occur if the system simply desn't work for a day or two?
