From GamesIndustry.biz:

Nintendo's Wii console has now sold over 10 million units in Japan.

That's according to local data specialist and Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, which puts the figure at 10,009,736 units, as of February 28, 2010.

Consumer blog Kotaku notes that Sony's PlayStation 2 reached the 10 million milestone quicker, after 131 weeks on the market. The Wii has hit 10 million after 170 weeks.

Enterbrain also puts PlayStation 3 unit sales in the region at 4,766,408 and Xbox 360 sales at 1,235,049 units.

I don't remember if we had Famitsu numbers in last week. If so, then we can do the subtraction and get this week's numbers.

I could be doing my math wrong, but would this means that if vgchartz is wrong than we overtracked the ps3 by 60-80k.  Overtracked the 360 by some odd units, and the wii is almost in line.

(remember I said if)

All the trackers tend to be a little different.  Media Create actually claims more Japanese GameCube sales than Nintendo reports shipping to the region!

Famitsu/Enterbrain does have the highest coverage though (around 70-80%), while Denegeki & MC each cover notably less (around 40-60% iirc).  Dengeki also reported Wii passing 10m this week, and VGC is right in line, so at least most seem on the same page for Wii.

I wonder how high Wii will end up?  It's still got it's biggest release ahead of it yet (DQX), depending on the console's shelf life, I could see another 5-6m.
