AS far as i can tell any unit other that the Slim, may or may not need their Bios of the Motherboard flashed, IE a firmware update that has a Bio's update to fix the PS3's internal clock setting's. which the software that is stored on the Bios chip of the PS3 , and since the Bios setting's are in the chip and the PS3's mother board battery keep's those setting's even when the unit is switched on/off the setting's cannot be changed by just changeing the clock on the PS3's setup.
it would have to be done on the Bios level of the PS3.
