Again inferior to Polyphony.

However, the game has been negatively criticised for its erratic frame rate, which is usually smooth while traversing the landscape, but often slows down in fast-paced situations, such as colossus battles.[7] Concern was also expressed about the game's camera, which was described by GameSpy as being "as much of an opponent as the Colossi", "manag[ing] to re-center itself at the worst and most inopportune times"

Compromising gameplay for graphical marvels makes one inferior to Polyphony.

Scale man, scale!

PD never pushed the scale, like i said all they do is pretty darn good racing games, and racing games never push the envelope outside of well pretty graphics and fast action (frame rate).

you should see the guys behind Wipeout (Liverpool) , they make insane frame rates heck even the PS1 games had crazy frame rates that no other game did so at that time with the amount of speed the gameplay is.

They compromised on frame-rate for graphics. They could have easily gone for slightly less impressive visuals if it meant that the game would run better. Gameplay should never be compromised for the sake of visuals, gameplay is a testament which last whereas graphics age quickly.
