is your PS3 connected to a HDTV with a HDMI cable??

that is the cause of your problem then, seriously to experience GOW III in it's full glory you will need a HDTV and a HDMI cable, is your PS3 a NTSC one??

did you buy your PS3 from America or Japan, if so it will be a NTSC PS3, if you bought it in Europe, then it will be PAL, when playing games from different regions and not using the HD setup your game will be displayed in black and white, however if you get your game from the same region as you bought your PS3, even if you don't have the HD setup your game should play in colour
