Pretty much anything by J G Ballard or Philip K Dick, plus short works of Harlan Ellison and Bradbury.
I'd say Of Mice and Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, His Dark Materials, Lord of the Flies, 1984, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Catch 22 and some Charles Dickens. Also The Haunting of Hill House.
