so MS is running on smoke and mirrors, because they haven't shown Natal to the audience yet. Sony is delivering, because they haven't shown anything, but they will do so @E3. But MS will show something @E3 as well...

Actually the only thing Sony showed was a guy that wasn't able to hit a tennis ball with a gigantic stop sign.

Wait for E3 so far a lot of people are excited for Natal.

ugh I'm sorry mate but pretty much most of the demos MS did for natal were failures.....heck even the earlier ones were admitted to be pre rendered demos.....Milo says hi

so far if you have followed the general news on Arc and what devs of game comapnys and journalists say about it after seeing it in action, you will see it has a more postive feedback so far...for Natal it is mostly "it WILL be amazing" ...

the fact that their live demo malfunction in the last E3 didn't exactly put up a good impression either

I honestly hope Natal does well....but I personally think Arc will blow it away...we will see who is right by E3 ;)

That is why these failures were in talk shows, late night shows, magazines, Forbes magazine, time magzine one of the innovations of the year, Heck even smallville included Natal. Do you think they do this with a failure? Let's be honest here.

Its probably not a failure. But we know almost nothing about the games that will come out of it. Why are they even talking about it in talkshow and smallville? Its already seems like it is a success, but its not even release. I think this is what the Sony PR was talking about. Also seems fishy to me, I mean they must be paying someone for those kind of publicity stunt. If not theres no reason to talk about everywhere for the same reason that nobody is talking about Sony Arc.

Just like Nintendo must have paid Oprah, Ellen and others to showcase the Wii.  Sometimes a product catches peoples eye and face it the Natal in prototype form did just that.  Blowing it off as a gimmick and publicity stunt doesnt change that. Now we still have to see the real product deliver what the demos did.  We will have a better idea shortly at GDC when I believe we will see more polished demos and E3 when Natal will be fully blown out.

Actually I wouldnt be surprise at all if Nintendo paid Oprah, Ellen and others. Beware, I work in marketing, paying can also mean exchange in service or giving console so they can give them to the audience. Theres different way of paying then cash. Usually theres always a deal like that when you see this kind of stunt on TV. Heres an example (for people that live in Quebec it will be on Canal Vie):

We have someone here that is a designer (Jean Airoldi), he do a TV series where he is renovating is house (sounds fun lol). In each 1 hour episode, he renovate something different. And well my business sells household appliances, and in one of his episode he come and purchase is appliances for the new house. Do you think they do that because were nice people and company? or because we give them 20K of household appliances. If we wouldnt have accepted this deal, they would have simply ask another company. Free publicity is rarely free.

P.S. if you can read my previous post I explain why it is different when its a TV show or magazine not related to the product than when it is related to the product. Ex. video game company will not pay IGN to do an article on them
