This has been talked about on another thread, I think it is a conspiracy - as they have 250GB models and they make $$ on them, no 120GB models and they lose money... 

It's like 360's strategy, they "have" an arcade version at $199, so that # is in people's heads, then when they buy a 360, they pick up the $299 model, because it has that HD and salespeople tell you stupid stuff, when I bought my arcade version when my 360 went on the fritz, the salesman tried to tell me I can't go online with an Arcade version.  I felt like smacking him upside the head.

Sony can advertise the $299 price point, but if you are all set for a PS3, and go to the store, and no $299 Sony's but they have a bunch of 250GB for ONLY $50 more..  I bet the majority of people pick up the 250GB one :)
