Saddest ending in a video game? (Spoilers for all games ever)

1. Harvester - in the end you either agree to kill your girl friend and thus join the cult as a serial killer, or don't agree, and you are both killed...

About Dark Seed...If I remember correctly there was a Darkseed II game so maybe the guy turned out Ok...Good games,reminded me a lot of Lovecraft

but squall "could" have died at the end of disc 1. it is possible the entire rest of the game is just him "on the way to death"
