Killzone.com has given respect to these killzone 2 players
Killzone 2 has received a fair share of accolades since its release, ranging from IGN's choice for Best PS3 Shooter of 2009 to GameSpot's genre award for Best Shooter. The game was selected for Best Graphics in X-Play's G-Phoria 2009 ceremony, and even took home a coveted Golden Joystick award for PlayStation Game of the Year !
But enough about us. This two-part feature, which we've dubbed the Killzone 2 Community Awards, is actually about the accomplishments of the Killzone 2 fan base. Since the game was released almost one year ago, we’ve witnessed astonishing feats of skill and perseverance from the players - and it's high time they received some recognition as well. So, without further ado, here are the absolute standout players of the last twelve months.
Tensions ran high at this year’s award ceremony.
Best Player: x_KILL1ONAIRE_x
x_KILL1ONAIRE_x has consistently held the top spot on Killzone.com for months in a row, and it doesn't look like he's about to let up anytime soon. In addition to having the highest score, x_KILL1ONAIRE_x also holds the highest number of kills, and the most shots fired with his favorite pistol, the StA-18.
Getting the finalists up on the same podium required some explosive persuasion.
Most Gruesome Grenadier: col-burton
If multiplayer characters could grow muscles, col-burton would have one hell of a pitching arm: he holds the record for the largest amount of grenades thrown, as well as the longest consecutive use of grenades. And his 'fastball' stats are nothing to scoff at, either - he's continuously used the missile launcher longer than any other player on Killzone.com.
Eventually, the organizers got everyone to pose for a group shot.
Most Useful Unit: amber0955hz
amber0955hz is a valuable addition to any team. He has accrued the most Capture & Hold points, armed the most Search & Destroy explosives, and fired the most rifle shots. We'll chalk up the fact hat he has also died the most of anyone on the leaderboards to his willingness to take one for the team.
Sadly, one of the finalists misunderstood what 'group shot' meant.
Most Combustible Competitor: vvic
vvic's favorite weapon is the VC-9 Missile Launcher, which he has fired more frequently than anyone else on the leaderboards. A firm believer in the doctrine of mutually assured destruction, his motto is "Killing myself to kill the enemy is the greatest honor". Unsurprisingly, vvic also holds the records for most suicides.
In the end, the photographer decided to take the picture from a safer distance.
Most Effective Engineer: DED_67-
An engineer down to his core, DED_67- doesn't particularly care which faction he's fighting for - as long as he can deploy lots and lots of sentry turrets. He holds the record for most sentry turrets deployed, and has used the LS-13 Shotgun longer than any other player on Killzone.com.
