Have video games turned bad?

Back in the good o' days when we played video games wii looked like this

But as of recently we looked like this

or quite possibly

 

My question yo you guys is, will we go back to the good o' days? Or are those days long gone? (BTW I started gaming on the 360, so im not sure these stories are true, but that's what the mods keep on saying)
