Should buyers of pre-owned titles be punished?

Why the heck should people buying used stuff be punished? So if I buy a used car, should I be punished? It's just stupid. These companies should blame themselves for setting the price so high. If amazon can do a lightning deal and sell things for $30-40 for a brand new game, I don't see any reason why they can't set MSRP at $30-40. If that's the case, I normally would buy a new game at that price than a used game at that price.
