I don't think people who pre-order (especially at Gamestop) should get any special treatment (exclusive characters, maps, etc.). Especially if the pre-order bonus isn't advertised. T-Shirts and figurines, are fine. But don't cut me out of some of the experience because I want to buy the exact same game at the exact same price from the exact same store but I don't pre-order it. Shit. Sometimes, money is tight!

On the flipside, maybe people who buy used don't deserve all of the benefits of people who buy new. A used game plays just like a new game except that the developer gets none of the revenue.

I think Mass Effects 2's giving people bonus DLC or something like that is the best way to go. It doesn't hurt the experience and it encourages new purchases.

I also think Mass Effect 2's pre-order bonus DLC is the worst way to go. Different DLC from five different locations means that NOBODY wins. Some people don't even have a Gamestop to pre-order from.
