Well that's a failed attempt to appeal to ethos. "This guy is a gaming CEO and he gets addicted to video games so obviously what he says goes for everyone." Complete fail. Maybe a psychologist or neurologist would have been a better appeal to ethos.

What he also fails to realize is the PR. It's kinda a nice PR when you can say I have to stop playing this game so much because I won't do other things, which is PR talk for this game is so awesome you can't put it down. Meaning he pulled more than likely intentional false dichotomy by assuming that there was only two things that this man could say: that you can be addicted to the game or that you can't. Complete disregard for other possibilities such as spin, deceit, or flat out lying.

But I expect nothing less from Mr. Thompson.
