@LordtheNK: You kind of embarassed yourself in your last post by not making any sense, and further not even really responding to me. I didn't say it's not possible (search for 'Somari' rom, some home-made NES mashup of Sonic/Mario): I said there's no point. Simply featuring two specific characters does not lend a game anymore potential fun or quality.
