I have Gamefly, so I can rent and play whatever I want whenever I want for just $17/month and I give nothing to the industry. Honestly Gamefly has prevented me from buying many games.

Thanks to Gamefly I have rented and completed:

Uncharted
Borderland
Modern Warfare 2
Ninja Blade
Dragon Age Origins
Street Fighter IV
House of the Dead Overkill
Little King's Story
Mario Power Tennis
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Prince of Persia

Soon to be added is:

Heavy Rain
God of War Collection
Uncharted 2

Maybe they should make it illegal since it is no different than me buying some games and then lending them out to those who don't buy them.

Actually I see renting the same way I see downloading.

If the game is good enough it will bring in new owners/gamers to the franchise and yes there will always be people just renting/downloading and not buying any games but all and all I think both are positives that the industry needs to embrace and accept the negatives that comes with it.

As do I. I see no problems with either of them.

I don't see why it is alright to lend out my games to whoever I want on the streets, at work, pretty much any random joe but if I stream it for any of these same people to view it all of a sudden it is wrong.

I totally agree.

I am from the old old generation that started with game & watch, vectrex, atari, spectrum and commodere 20&64 and since then we have been sharing and copying games wich has lead to us buying more games and it has been that way for most of my gaming community, we are all big time spenders in videogames and always have been even though we have had acces to the games for free for 30 years.

It has helped us to sort out games we wouldnt want to own, it has helped us playing games when our economy have been dire (always gone back and bought the games when we could afford it if it was good enough), it has saved us from damaging our originals etc.

there are so many benefits from this for a consumer perspective that it will never go away and those not embracing it will suffer from it.

I also can imagine that many of the veteran gamers are the ones downloading/sharing games so the Industry is effectvly alienating their best most loyal customers and the ones that have been supporting the industry the longest, it´s a real shame that they dont see this and focus on the downside of this.

I also believe that the vast majoroty of only downloading and never buying is the new generation that feels they are entitled to everything thay can get their hands on for free.
