I can't help but feel the article made quite a stretch in assuming Epic has any inclination to be bought.

"It's tough being an independent developer, because you're often bound to the will of a large publisher... so let's get bought by the large publisher instead!"

This line in particular:

"Once you get on that cycle it’s hard to get off,” Capps added. “It’s like, ‘Oh, your independent IP is great, but why don’t you do this license for us at the same time?"


...makes it sound like that's something they would desperately try to avoid.

And don't Epic Games make an assload of cash from licensing the Unreal Engine?
