Japanese RPGs can be exhausting sometimes (I just beat Lost Odyssey)

If you liked Dragon Quest IV, you'll probably love V. In my opinion, it easily has the best narrative in the entire series. I would also try a Shin Megami Tensei game if you're looking for a good plot and great writing. Maybe Strange Journey (March 23) would be a good place to start.

I own V but haven't beaten it yet.

I own Persona 4 but stopped about six hours in. I guess I should pick it back up sometime but Lord that game is slow

You might like the main series or the DDS games better than the Persona games. They're much heavier on the gameplay side without stuffing the story down your throat. I love them all, but they each have different appeal.
