The two games are two versions... it's hardly the only game to ever do that. The point of Pokemon for kids is that it's a social game. Two versions are released so kids can trade with their friends to catch them all.
No sounds at all are still used from the red and blue versions. In fact no sounds are even used from GSC. Some are used from RSE, but you try and record a completely unique battle cry for 493 Pokemon on a handheld game. The amount of storage space that would use alone would be ridiculous.
You really shouldn't discuss something you know absolutely nothing about.

but why not trade with the same version? why not release a platinum like-version instead of 2 splits?

You are completely missing the point of the philosophy. The idea of version exclusive Pokemon isn't to get people to buy both versions, it's to force people to be social and trade between the versions to get everything. When I was in late elementary school Pokemon Red and Blue had just released, and the playground was full of kids playing and trading across the games. The games were a social phenomenon and still are because of that mechanic. Pokemon is for people to make friends and interact with their friends, at least at the kid's level.

bah same for me, you are only a year older (turning 21, the 21 :p).
though all my friends had the yellow version, and we traded between.

Yeah... but the Yellow Version didn't have them all....
I don't think any "Yellow" version actually has all the pokemon.
