man both portable games were treated as full KH games, birth by sleep and 358/2, this was said alot interviews, birth by sleep managed to sell more? graphics? gameplay(the same). ds got almost double the install base of PSP in japan . 352/8 its prequel to kh2. yet birth by sleep double it first week. |
lol, no. 352/2 days uses 100% recycled worlds, a mission based structure with multiplayer focus, and was outsourced to the studio who makes Chocobo Dungeon/Card games for Square. It was exactly what you'd call a spinoff, and had an R&D cycle that was about half what BBS got (indeed it was even started after BBS was well into development, yet released half a year earlier). The working title for BBS was "Kingdom Hearts Zero", it was made internally and not outsourced, it's a full traditional single player ARPG, it's loaded with new worlds, it's basically a full fledged Kingdom Hearts and had substantially more advertising, coverage and promotion in Japan. The 3 handheld games (don't forget Coded) were unveiled together, but don't think for second that means these productions have ever been on any sort of equal footing...
Besides, 358/2d will sell insanely well in the west. It already has really, it's going to cruise by COM.
edit: Here I'll continue the franchise comparisons, maybe it'll help you grasp it better.
Birth By Sleep = Code: Veronica = Majora's Mask = Peace Walker
358 / 2 days = Outbreak = Four Swords Adventures = Portable Ops
