Laptops have been selling better and better recently, agreed. But desktops are still the dominant form of PC.

According to an iSupply study, laptops outsold desktops during holiday season 2008 and for 2009 there are reports of massive gains in laptop sales and a decline in desktop sales.

The statement still stands, to go from a PC that handles everyday work such as Office and a gaming PC, you jsut need to drop about $150.

Most people seem to use PCs for work or study related stuff and internet webbrowsing. For this the PC usually provides a better experience and for such uses I think PCs are more suited placed on a desk instead of in the living room (laptops are better suited to take where you want, but not that great for gaming).
