Amazon has very little value, ever. Oblivion earlier this year, in Japan, was #1 for a few WEEKS. Oblivion struggled to get to 75k. A very good number for a western game.
Amazon rankings have nothing to do with a 'cutural phenomenon'. Many, many Xbox 360 games do well there, and then wind up doing poorly outside of that. Amazon over-inflates X360 numbers because many Xbox 360 owners in Japan use the Internet to purchase their games, versus PS3, Wii and DS owners.

Look at his posting history man. His first post was on the 21st of November. That means in 13 days, he has posted 431 times. Hell, just this evening he made 2 topics about the same thing based on the same information. He is averaging 33 posts a day, which is only 7 less than Soriku.
