HDDs have moving parts that can easily bend or break; therefore all of them have higher failure rates than a piece of solid-state electronics (like, say, your CPU). Don't listen to anecdotal evidence concerning hardware failure rates or else you'll find yourself in a situation where every HDD manufacturer is suddenly unreliable. :P
