I have big hands and it still fits perfectly. the shape is ergonomicly designd to take pressure off the wrists. lots of articles about other console controllers causing peoples hands and wrists to hurt after extended periods of play. plus there's the fact that the controller has now become "iconic" which is a marketable selling point.
