....Just because you see me say a thing doesn't mean that it's necessarily easy to turn around. I am making an argument, which has to do with the specific layout of the controller and how it could be improved because of the way one's hands naturally rest when holding a controller. That's why every input in the industry except for the 360 D-pad and the PS3's left thumbstick is sitting in the same place in relation to the handle: because tha'ts the most comfortable place for it to be. The relative positions of the D-pad and thumstick are a relic of a time when the D-pad was the primary input method. Times have changed and that placement needs to change too. im demonstrating how the controller worked over the times (since i was 6, ps1 till im 21, ps3) from shooters to racing games. you in the other hand are like "teh xbox 360 d-pad iz here and the analog herez" turning the *playstation controller* into the 360's controller I don't really think that's a fair characterization of my rgument, firstly because it's not a standard that Microsoft set - it's a standard that Nintendo set on the N64. It has to do with thep lacement of the joystick in relation to your thumb when your hand is holding the grip. Ther'es an optimum position for the joystick to rest in. The dualshock doesn't have it.
To clarify: I use the Dualshock a lot. One of my most-playd games of the last generation was God Hand, which was absurdly control stick intensive. I tend to stay at Level Die in that game. I beat God of War II on Titan Mode. Devil May Cry 3 is my bitch. I am not coming from the perspective of someone who has only used other controllers. I have been using a Dualshock for a long time: the only dfference between us is that I can acknowledge where it needs to be improved. again you seem to be missing the point, so ill make it easier for you. This is not Ms's Xbox 360 or other consoles, it's the "Playstation". the controller layout obviously works for millions of users (90% in another article i read else where, and 66% here). maybe it's not the controller just you. because i can own using the 360 controller, playstation controller, or dreamcast controller, three completely different layouts. youre That doesn't have anything to do with anything, nor does your ability to "own" with any given controller. I don't care about your "owning" abilities! They ae not relevant here! Yes I will agree that one can adapt to the placement of the joysticks on the dualshock, but one should not have to. They could be placed optimally from the beginning, and all would be well with the world.
Again: this is not about your abilities, either to "own" or to adapt to the suboptimal stick placement on the Dualshock. It's also not about what the consumer wants! It's about whether or not the Dualshock could be better. It could be! That is all there is. |
again you have no argument and im not going to keep repeating myself. you clearly have no argument and refuse to give up. ill just end this argument with a wall with this.
why would sony change its controller design from 3 different generations (hardware wise) to it competitors? that will make sony look so bad and not only that but be looked at as a bland, un-unique console by many, also a turn-off to those who grew up with the playstation, let along a lost in sony's tradition, its life, its soul. you want a 360 controller design? get a 360 then buddy. the playstation brand has its own controller layout and design that has been working for them since ps1 and is love by 90% of its installbase and im a fine example of it and the 66% to 33% here in vgchartz
