Ha, and the reason for this is pretty obvious...most journamists likely aren't that great at action games, and likely don't compare them at a high level.

Aaaaaaanyway, sorry to drag this thread back on topic.
That's a pretty big generalisation you make there without any substantiation whatsoever. I would think you're right about "most journalists" given the 95% of journalists don't review video games and probably don't play video games much. But what is being discussed here isn't the opinions of most journalists, rather the reviews of video game reviewers, so I assume that's really what you mean. You claim that only the EDGE reviewers like/play (and are thus any good at) Hack'n'Slash games whereas all the other reviewers don't, and that's why they give GoW such high scores. And yet these video game reviewers' professional lives revolve around playing and critically assessing A LOT of video games of various genres. And you think most of them haven't developed a better than average proficiency at H'n'S games, especially the people who review the H'n'S games? It would be unprofessional of any review site to have a racing/sports game fan who doesn't like and would never choose to play a H'n'S game do a review of an H'n'S game. So rather than assuming all but the EDGE reviewer is any good at H'n'S it is far more likely that the great majority of H'n'S reviewers have sufficent skill to be able to properly assess a H'n'S game on it's merits.
The line of argument that 95% of H'n'S reviewers aren't that good at action games and hence will gave GoW a higher score than it deserves has no credibility.
GoW's story is well above average for video games. Far from my favourite, but it certainly adds to, rather than detracts from, the overall quality of the game.
