As each week goes by things look more and more like this year will turn out to be another 2008. PS3 selling about 1m-2m more over the 360 by around september and then 360 price cut, new model+Natal come out which like 2008 will just sell loads and make those numbers back.
A big difference to then though is the early weeks the PS3 360 gap was quite big. In 2008 it was around 50k a week. Now it is around 20k a week. At the current rate you have to think it is going to be a lot closer this time around.
I still stick by my prediction 360 will sell more consoles then ps3 in 2010. Worldwide for the 1st 6 weeks of the year PS3 has only sold 200k more consoles then the 360. While in 2008 it was around 250k. So this means the price cut this time around has had less effect, that is also with the final fantasy effect in Japan. As the weeks go by and start to stabalise you would have to guess world wide ps3 will probably sell around 10k-20k more then the 360 per week. A potential decrease in the gap by about 80k a month or around 400k total.
With the games coming out for both consoles it will be interesting to see what effect they have on hardware sales if they have any effect at all.
