As we all know the best racing game ever released is Mario Kart Wii and the second best racing game ever released is also Mario Kart DS. So I make this thread to ask about whether the possibly third best racing game which will ever have been (almost) released can in any way compete with the best? Im saying possibly, because GT5 might actually have a chance to be the best but its up against some very stiff opposition.

Im not denying that there were games in the GT series which were at one point the best. But its past its prime and Mario Kart has sailed ahead as the premiere racing experience on any platform. This is the reason why I ask this question, can GT5 retake the crown which Mario Kart and then Mario Kart stole then stole again?

If it isn't anything else, Mario Kart is the most hardcore kart racer which also has blue shells imaginable. Whereas GT* series is kind of pussy, in that if you did the things in real life you did in the game you'd probably be dead, the lack of realistic consequences within the realities of the game are quite irksome to me, however I've shelved my hardcore rage for the moment. This is where I think GT5 might have the edge. We've all seen how casualised games have really taken the market by storm this generation.

So can GT5 take casualised 'racing' to the extreme and best the masterpiece which is Mario Kart Wii and its handheld brother?

Tease.
