Great first post.
Yup, Dreamcast was squished by PS2 hype nukes.
The PS3 is suffering an image crisis, as the Wii is grabbing casuals and the 360 is grabbing the hardcores. There are a few hardcore 1-gamers waiting for MGS and FF but otherwise all other categories of gamer have moved on. It will be interesting to see what Sony does to address this issue.
There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.
