Get an electric razor for that. DO NOT use Nair.

I'll be seconding this. Making the skin taut for a standard razor is a pain, and if you nick it, it's going to be a lot worse than itching. And nair... well, let's just say there's a warning on it for a reason. No personal experience, but I've heard the stories, and damned if I'm taking that chance!
But shaving down there... I usually just do a quick trim the old fashioned way- with scissors. It has the benefit of keeping much of the loose hair in the hand pulling away the hair, making less of it sticking to you in other annoying fashions. If you use an electric razor, you may want to shower afterwards, and soap well around there to remove the loose hair. As for complete removal, well, I'd leave that decision to your significant other, since different people like different grooms there.
