Sony, a japanese native company can't help their fellow japanese developers - which they have strong historical afiliation with- such as Namco, SE, and Capcom, are going multiplatform and in most cases make exclusive deals with Microsoft and develop many of their games firstly on the 360 platform (Bayonetta, Resident Evil 5, almost all multiplat JRPGs this gen). So what's so surprising the other developers outside japan (which are in fact leading this gen) behave no different? In the end, it matters little honestly, and Sony knows this. It's not worth the money to them to be "percieved" as strongly affiliated to a MULTI-PLAT IP. After all, it's on their system. Is it the best version or the best it can be? not their problem, it's all up to the developers. I'd say let M$ throw their money to third parties, THEY ALL eventually go multiplat (Bioshock I'm looking at you) and the only thing that remains are strong in-house studios that can produce real-defining games for your own console.
