PS2 released just now in brasil. It will be there for a long time. I guess after 2013. PS1 was produced until 2006. Thats 12 years. Ps2 is way more succesful and will be discontinued way later. If it is as long around as PS1 it would be 2012-2013. But now the developing countries play a bigger role. And you have to buy a new one if your old one is broken if your PS1 stopped working you could have bought a PS2. But thats not possible anymore. I think it will be 15years or maybe even more on the market (2015+)

No, i'm from Brazil and we have PS3 everywhere on the shelves. PS2 isn't selling as good as it did 4-5 years ago in here.

Lol. I know that you have Ps3s on the shelfs. But some guy from brasil explained me the situation some months ago here on vgchartz.

He explained that the prices for PS3 and stuff are extreme because they double the prices with dutys. So the PS2 was released OFFICIALY for 299. which is a good price he also explained me that the people still bought Sega mega drive games. And the PS3 and Xbox are just there for the richer people and so on moment I will find the posting where he explained me the situation and you can correct that if you want:

Yes, the prices here are ridiculously high, but we are used to it, for every electronic product. When a new console launches at the US/Japan, it costs like 1200 dollars in here for the first 2 years, then it starts getting lower. When it hits a price point of 500-700 dollars, the sales rise a lot, and even the medium class starts buying it. The X360 is 500 dollars and PS3 is 700 dollars now. A regular Samsung LCD 42" costs 1800 dollars, and people still buy it (i bought one few months ago), because the price is acceptable, cause we are used to it.

It's estimated that 8 millions PS2 were sold in Brazil from 2001-2008, from US$900 to US$250 (the current price).

Nobody wants it anymore, most people are looking for the X360 because it's hackable.
