Just curious, how come you despise it? I'm perfectly capable of figuring out how dislike or indifference comes into play, but despise would require a level of antagonism against the experiences that I cannot fathom how it could come to pass.

Well, perhaps despise would be a bit harsh, but I do not like it one bit, at all. It's mainly because of the controls. I cannot bring myself to play comfortably with a keyboard & mouse setup. Not in the least. I know a lot of people love it, but I honestly don't. Of course that doesn't apply to point-and-click games, but I'm generally not interested in those games. Also, the fact that you have to consider what kind of hardware you have when purchasing and playing games ticks me off, big time. I don't have to worry with that on consoles, it's just plug & play. I don't have to fiddle around with display options, settings, upgrading hardware, installing stuff and whatnot. Finally, I don't like to sit at a desk when playing games. Those are all just personal preferences, though. If others do like it, well good for them.
