DaBuddahN said: Oh dear, I love the damage control going on in here. It seems everyone who said "The PS3 is not having supply issues!!!" is here trying to convince people that Sony themselves are wrong about their own products supply issues. Give it a rest people. It has supply issues, period!
My take on this is that the underestimated the demand of the PS3 a bit, nothing more, nothing less. |
It has a small supply issue in one country, bucket loads everywhere else.
And even in the US, if you really want one you can find one.
How is this incorrect?
|
I'm not saying it's not. But there are obviously supply issues in certain parts of America, and believe me, people are not going to travel 100 miles to buy a PS3 if their local stores do not have one. Here, where I live, GameStop only has refurbished PS3's available for sale (I have not checked Walmart, etc). And, it's mostly the 120GB model which is facing supply issues, because apparently the 250GB model can be found, it's just that people don't want to be the 50 dollar difference.

online retailers...
|
Yes yes, but, there are people who don't like online retailers. =/ Believe it or not, there are people who don't even like email.
The point is, Sony themselves they are having supply issues, and that they are struggling to keep up with demand. Now, if you know more than Sony about their own supply, please email them and point to the thousands of PS3's they have in storage that they have apparently forgotten.

why so defensive
I am merely pointing out that if someone wants them then they can get one....
and do you really expect me to believe that the majority of new potetntial Sony PS3 customers dont like shopping online? these are people that will be tech savvy and online.

I am not being defensive! I just don't like it when people try to spin things around. Sony themselves have said they are having supply issues, so it's to be assumed that there really is a supply issue.. And that all these anecdotal threads we've had over the past month or so might actually have ground to stand on.
Yes, some of the people are tech savvy, for sure. But some are grandparents and parents whom are not tech savvy, buying gifts for children, etc.
Why are supplies low in the US? Maybe SCEA underestimated the demand for the PS3 in the US. That's my take on it. Why haven't they resupplied? That is another ball game entirely. Maybe some of the PS3's on the manufacturing line are defective? Or there is a component that is scarce for now. Only Sony knows... all we can do is speculate. But in the end, there is a supply issue, particularly in America. The End.
