No, i'm from Brazil and we have PS3 everywhere on the shelves. PS2 isn't selling as good as it did 4-5 years ago in here. |
Lol. I know that you have Ps3s on the shelfs. But some guy from brasil explained me the situation some months ago here on vgchartz.
He explained that the prices for PS3 and stuff are extreme because they double the prices with dutys. So the PS2 was released OFFICIALY for 299. which is a good price he also explained me that the people still bought Sega mega drive games. And the PS3 and Xbox are just there for the richer people and so on moment I will find the posting where he explained me the situation and you can correct that if you want:
Here is the link to the thread with a similar topic: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=93988
and here is his post:
"People. PS2 is still to be MANY years around. Like, here in Brazil the MASTER SYSTEM was discontinued in 2008 and MEGA DRIVE is one of the best selling consoles here.
And it's the reality of the most of under-development countries, the current-gen consoles are just for fanatics from middle class or rich people. They sell the megadrive for 300 BRL with games in memory, the right product a person with a salary of 450BRL and in a country full of piracy.
In some years the place that belongs for Mega Drive now will be of PS2, this the sad reality of Brazilian gaming industry, latest consoles costing 1500BRL and Mega Drive 300BRl.
For the developed world, ps2 is in a curve of declining, don't sell software, there is no high budget project for it, no blockbusters announced. It only chance is to turn in a indie supported plataform and it's huge amount of classics, we should wait for it ends."
Hmm I wonder where I read that PS2 was officialy launched in Brasil in 2009. I have to search a little more. I know I have read it . Probably somewhere else.
