The PS3 (and Wii) has been in very short supply in my area since the end of December and throughout a good portion of the US.At BB/Gamestop/Target/Walmart when they do get some in they are sold immediately. The 360 has not had any shortages that I can remember.
Amazon also does not make up nearly the % of total sales as the stores listed above.
