Thing is, if you buy a gaming laptop, you'll be paying twice as much for parts half as powerful as if you were to just build a desktop. It's extremely poor value for your money compared to if you were to buy a desktop + netbook or something. Well that PC will be a beast in terms of performance.  I would expect you to get decent performance 6-7 years out with that rig.
