That's anigifs for ya. Animated gifs load frame-by-frame, playing what they load as it gets loaded. Since your browser was trying to load the rest of the thread at the same time, the gif was loading sort-of slowly
Watch it the second time through, after it's completely loaded, and it's a lot better. Always. =)
