First of all... How can you put the slasher genre (which is a kind of exploitation film) in the same category as a Bruceploitation film? They're too different and there should be diferent categories. Second, it's not about having something against a genre. All you need to not like a genre is for the subject it relates to to be boring to you. Some people I know, for example, find any kind of sports movie to be boring. Others find Lynch movies (which I could argue, deserve a genre of their own) to be completely dull. Third, porn is a genre. Don't try to run away from it, just cuz you don't like it cuz there are a lot of people who do. Me included And fourth, while videogames may not be as diverse, they're quickly getting there and I would argue there are exploitation genres already in the gaming world. There are dating and sex simulators, aren't there? |
1) They aren't "too different".
They all opperate the same base theory. Find something a lot of people find offensive and exploit and expand the hell out of it. They're no more different then a mystery thriller set in the 1800's and a mysertery thriller set in 3800.
Explotation movies are the genre... everything you've mentioned is a subgenre of explotation movies.
Perhaps a better example is doccumentries. The documentry could be as vast as eating fast food, to building house out of trash, to digging of ancient history, to a day in the life of Kobe Bryant. All very different stuff... however... the form is what's important. Not the subject matter.
2) What if no subject is boring to you? No subject is inherently boring if you ask me. It's all simply how it's presented. Someone could make grass growing interesting if they presented it in the right way.
3)As for porn. Admittidly thinking back on it... I have found the occasional porn movie really funny to watch through. Playmate of the Apes being particularly hilarious. Though I don't really consider it in the "movie" arena because... It doesn't get reviewed by the same people... even when other "non-porn" films have little if any difference but are reviewed and accepted by the movie establishment.
4) Once again depends on how it's done doesn't it? I mean Sakura Taisen is a dating simulator and it looks pretty damn interesting honestly.
Actually though, those would probably all just fall under "simulation" for genre.
