Yes you should, it's an awesome machine. I'm only worried about what you are going to play being a big N fan, maybe you can turn yourself to a Gears, COD, Mass Effect, HALO, Assassins and other games fan.
Use XBOX LIVE, it's the most important feature, grab some friends and have fun with them, some co-op games are RE5, both Army of Two, Mercenaries, both Gears and HALO3 for example, in a near future you can play Lost Planet 2 with 3 more friends.
New console? That is going to happen with NINTENDO (see the latest news), SONY and MS, that's normal. Just enjoy the present.
