It's as mostly everyone says: it depends on the anime. Some are good to go in Enlgish (DBZ, Cowboy Bebop...), other's are terrible (Death Note, Escaflowne).
Gundam Seed for example had great English Dubs, but in it's seque l- Gundam Seed Destiny - they didn't seem to try as hard. It got so poor that I had to soon switch to Japanese dubs and familiarize myself with a new cast of voices.
Some one should compile a list of anime's that say whether or not the English dubs are good or not. That would help a lot of people out seeing as there are many who have a rough time choosing.
By life end:
- Wii- 100 million+
- Xbox360- 35~40 million
- PS3- 30 million
- PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
- NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical) - FAILURE
- NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!
