 I don't have money to buy every game, nor time to play them all. So I go to other people who have more information about a game than I do (at least they've played it). Based on what they say about the strengths and weaknesses of a game are, keeping in mind other things that other people say about the game, I judge whether a game is worth purchasing or not.

 And that is why reviewers are useful, and their integrity and professionalism are important. This little sheep figured all that out on his own.
